Presentation of the Observatory
The Observatory of Artificial Intelligence of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne will be a real crossroads for research professors from all disciplines of the human and social sciences (SHS) and will interact with all stakeholders of AI in society: individuals, associations, national and international regional economic actors, French and European agencies, political figures, etc.
The Observatory’s objectives
The Observatory's missions can be broken down into four main objectives:
- To observe the main concepts that structure AI research in order to initiate new interdisciplinary dynamics,
- To analyse the new emerging behaviours related to a massive use of AI,
- To train through the production of tools of understanding in the field of AI and in relation to different disciplines,
- Informing public policies and raising public awareness of AI issues.
Based on its work, the observatory will make proposals of various kinds to support the production and responsible use of AI-based systems and services. The topics already addressed within the University of Paris 1 and on which actions must continue are numerous (transparency and explicability, regulation of AI, etc.) and new use cases must be studied (AI and the fight against disinformation, predictive justice, AI and recruitment procedures, etc.)
